oilily open studio backgroun story

a neat article that provides some background on the creation of oilily's open studio

"BERLIN & FLORENCE The Sewing Box
Within the capacity of directing creative-services for the label, Oilily it was recently possible to conceive and direct a collaboration with the Dutch designer Jurgen Bey (often associated with the work he has contributed to the Droog Design exhibits) and partner and wife the architect Rianne Makkink. This "Energy Plan" gave form to the idea of creating a physical manifestation of the brand's conceptual Open Studio. The Open Studio was also loosely patterned after Beuys and his Free International University. But this is a reference that wouldn't be advanced directly as it might unnecessarily confuse the Oilily marketing message."
